Horn Creek has a legacy of great teaching. You might think with the tremendous amount of freedom in the Horn Creek camp schedule, that the speaker really isn't that big of a deal. After all, evening 'Round-Up' is such a relatively small part of each day of camp.
Well, nothing could be further from the truth!
It is true that the teaching times at Horn Creek Family Camp may be considered minimal compared to other settings, with a brief morning devotional and one evening 'Round-Up' each day. But we figure, this isn't a seminar, it's a camp! And we are passionate about the value of individuals and families getting rest and relaxation and fun.
That's exactly why, though we give most of the week to you to plan and use as you see fit, we want to make sure that our teaching time is very focused and purposeful and that our speakers are well equipped and passionate about pouring into the lives of our campers.
In fact, the role of our speakers is more than just teaching 6 times during the week. They are there for you all during the week. They love to visit with and get to know campers and pour into their lives. Furthermore, our speakers are involved in all kinds of interesting ministries outside of Horn Creek and we can learn a lot just from getting to know them and what they are doing for the kingdom!
At Horn Creek we have a tradition of bringing in great speakers, and we are passionate about continuing to build this important team. As you look though our various weeks of camp and read the speaker bios, you will find that not only do our speakers 'know their stuff,' they are actually doing stuff! From seminary professors who are preparing the next generation of leaders to inner-city ministers and global missionaries to committed local pastors, our speakers are in the game.
All of this means that the teaching at Horn Creek isn't just about sitting and taking notes at Round-Up. It's learning about what God is doing in the world, its about leading by example, and its about relationship.
In addition to bringing in speakers for Family Camps, Horn Creek also brings in a number of great youth speakers during the summer. We are always committed to building relationships and partnerships with speakers we can trust to faithfully teach the scripture and in doing so challenge us and bring us hope.
